MAST4 (1st PDZ domain)
MAST4 (1st PDZ domain): Human KIAA0303 protein (1st PDZ domain)
PDB Code: 2W7R
The MAST (Microtubule-Associated Serine/Threonine Kinase) family of kinases is characterised by the presence of a Serine/Threonine kinase domain and a PDZ domain. This kinase family consists of 5 members, MAST1–4, and MAST-like, the latter of which consists of an elongated kinase domain, and has only weak homology to the other family members. MAST1-4 share relatively high sequence identity.
MAST4 shows is widely expressed in normal human organs with the exception of testis, small intestine, colon and peripheral blood leukocyte. Expression of MAST4 is increased following seizure-like activity in dentate gyrus of the hippocampus in rodents buts its specific role in the brain remains unknown.
